Tea Drinkers
|
We all know only batty men drink coffee after 11am.
Anyways when do you have your cups of tea throughout the day/evening and how do you take it?
2 bags of lipton per mug w/lots of milk and some sugar is my standard. Only drink fancy or herbal tea once in a blue moon but might get a Russian samovar at some point that is lovely tea.

Monk~koknee 4:29 Wed Jan 28 several Indian tea workers starved to death bringing you that tea
I buy the free trade tea Monk so I hope not.
Private Dancer, Thanks for the heads up but............. One 80 bag would cost me $30 and if I order five x 80 bags it comes in at over $60 which is better but still expensive. They hit you with really high shipping costs AND a 2 quid handling fee. Cheeky gits.

Piston - This UK firm deliver globally. Don't know how much it costs but if you bought bulk then it would probably work out well.

You know that several Indian tea workers starved to death bringing you that tea don't you while the only people who made anything out of the transaction were some Paddies and Amazon.
Where is your social conscience?

Fuck! Now I'm hooked on this Punjana tea.
Like Hairy was saying and as I said in my earlier post, it's a proper cup of tea.
Bloody problem is I can't get it for a cheap price. Bugger.

Just had Punjana
My thoughts are its a decent old school cafe type tea remember when the Cafe's used to use actual Tea leaves. Pretty punchy yet sweet enough so it is an excellent tea. I am a softy who will probably stick to PG tips Punjana is for the connoisseur, though i will enjoy what i have bought.

It's impossible to read a teabag.
Can't say I am 100% confident about this one though.

A cup of green tea would typically contain less caffeine than a cup of black tea due to the fact that you (should) use lower temperature water and leave it to steep for a shorter period of time.
Tea leaves grown in different conditions may also have different caffeine levels but that level is not affected by the processing as green/ black tea etc.

Drink coffee at work but Yorkshire Tea at home though might try this Punjana stuff once I've got through my Costco sack of YT.

Also it's a common misconception that green tea has no caffeine. It does. It's made from the same leaves as black (normal) tea but processed differently.

Decaf earl grey still has tannin in it. It's only the caffeine they take out.
My wife drinks early grey redbush. Definitely no caffeine in it but probably still tannin. I don't know. I think it's disgusting.
Yorkshire Tea for me. Punjana's nice, but haven't had it for years.
Coffee's for before 11am, as per OP. Like to use a bit of Vietnamese robusta in my house blend, but that's for another thread.

Don't drink tea now. The Mrs got me off 'normal' tea onto Earl Grey when we first got together but then she couldn't drink anything with tannin in it so we went to decaffeinated Earl Grey and eventually I was just drinking boiled water with a tea leaf in and I found I didn't want it anymore. Never gone back to it. I have a coffee at 11am then drink water the rest of the day.

Okay, I'm bumping this post for analytical purposes.
Just got home from work to find my Punjana teabag order on my doorstep. Threw two teabags in a warmed teapot, poured boiling water in per instructions and stirred. This is for two mugs of tea. I steep for 4 minutes and pour.
Alrighty then. First thing I notice is that it is distinctly darker in colour compared to PG Tips. I add milk to my taste and I take my first sip. Hmm..... yeah......this is proper workshop tea. You know, the type you stir with a steel 6" rule. Not bad at all.
Compared to PG Tips I would say its a more robust, bolder flavour but not bitter. It still has a sweet after taste (I don't use sugar).
I like it but at $11:00 for 80 bags I might have to make it my 'special' tea.
Thank you tea drinkers of WHO.

I recently went to Si Lanka and learned that if you want a very strong brew it must be like a powder to start with. Generally tea leaves are stronger than a bag brew.
I had some shit from a tea plantation and it was fuckin hardcore.
